This intrepid itinerary takes you on a diverse exploration of some of the best wildlife safari areas in Kenya and all of Africa.
3 nights in Samburu, staying at Saruni Samburu
3 nights in the Masai Mara, staying at Saruni Wild
Your luxury Kenya safari begins in the northern lands of the Samburu tribe, where you will enjoy an active and varied safari, while experiencing the colourful Samburu culture. You can also go in search for the magnificent 'Samburu 5' including Grevy’s zebra, Reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk and Somali ostrich, which can only be found in this part of Kenya.
Next, you will enjoy the spectacular game viewing in the unparalleled Masai Mara, a world-renowned region and Kenya's classic 'Big 5' safari destination.
The big game wildlife viewing is utterly awe inspiring and you'll have the opportunity to spot lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and rhino on day or night game drives, thrilling foot safaris, or by the air on a spellbinding hot air balloon safari.
You'll be staying in a choice of handpicked luxury safari lodges and camps run by Saruni, including the beautiful Saruni Samburu and Saruni Wild, both of which offer lavish suites, delicious gourmet meals, stunning vistas, fantastic wildlife activities, and special cultural experiences within the nearby local Maasai villages.
You will be met by our VIP meet and greet service as you disembark your flight at Nairobi international airport. Who will escort you all the way through immigration and customs to your driver, who will transfer you to the Nairobi domestic airport for your light aircraft flight to the Samburu.
On arrival in Samburu, you will be met by a member of the team from Saruni Samburu, and driven to your luxury safari accommodation where you'll stay for three nights on an all-inclusive basis. Spend the rest of your day relaxing in your lavish suite and head out on a safari game drive in the evening.
Today you'll enjoy your first full day on safari in the breathtaking Samburu Reserve. Get involved with a range of activities including day and night game drives and thrilling walking safaris. The wildlife viewing at Samburu is always incredible, and you'll experience a different variety of animals and scenery, compared to the classic Big 5 safari.
You can also partake in some special cultural experiences with the local communities. This northern part of Kenya is home to the Samburu tribe, cousins of the Maasai tribe. In contrast to the Maasai people, the Samburu tribal culture has remained in tact and unchanged by the modern world, and they are proud to share their traditions and culture with intrepid guests.
Enjoy your final full day on safari in the Samburu Reserve. Many guests will be intrigued by their search for the unique 'Samburu 5', including Grevy’s zebra, Reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk and Somali ostrich, which can only be found in this particular part of Kenya. The Samburu area is also extremely well known as a walking safari destination. You can take an unforgettable walking safari with camels, a traditional part of the Samburu tribal way of life.
Enjoy breakfast before being driven to the airstrip for your scheduled light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival in the Masai Mara, you will be met by a representative Saruni Wild, and driven to your luxury tented camp, where you will stay for three nights on an all-inclusive basis. You'll arrive just in time for a delicious lunch and you can spend the afternoon relaxing in the luxury camp and soaking up the breathtaking views. Alternatively, you could head out on your first safari game drive in the evening as you begin your search for the iconic Big 5.
If a tented camp is not for you, another option is Saruni's permanent lodge, Saruni Mara, in the Mara North Conservancy or perhaps even a combination of the two.
Enjoy your first full day on safari in the Masai Mara, one of the most iconic national reserves and 'Big 5' safari areas in all of Africa. The Masai Mara is a brilliant option for first-time safari-goers, migration followers, and experienced lovers alike, with a fantastic range of experiences and wildlife.
Both, Saruni Wild and Saruni Mara offer a great array of different experiences that suits a range of different ages and interests. These could include a morning game drive, guided bush walks as well as trips to the local villages. They also offer more unique activities such as bush picnics and sundowners as well as scenic hot air balloon rides over the vast Mara landscape.
This is your final full day on safari in the phenomenal Masai Mara. The Mara is a fantastic year-round safari destination with optimal game viewing in the dry season from July to October, and an abundance of lush greenery in the shoulder and rainy seasons. The Great Migration typically occurs in the long dry season, so this is an excellent time of year to go on safari in Kenya.
Along with incredible wildlife, you'll have the opportunity for some special cultural experiences, including visiting the singing Maasai warriors of the Singing Wells. Interestingly, the Masai Mara contains one of the highest densities of lions anywhere in the world and yet you can see Maasai tribesmen grazing their cattle in the surrounding land. You'll also gain first-hand insight into the conflict between humans and wildlife as you witness cattle and predators roaming side by side.
Today you will be driven to the Masai Mara airstrip for your scheduled light aircraft flight back to Nairobi. You will be met at Nairobi domestic airport and transferred to Nairobi international airport, for your return international flight. If you have time before your flight, your driver can take you to one of our favourite restaurants in Nairobi for a delicious meal before your journey home.
We're sure you'll be leaving Kenya with some magical memories and spellbinding stories to share with your friends and family back home. You'll have gained a special insight into the unique wildlife and culture of Kenya on this unforgettable adventure. There's plenty of stunning destinations in Kenya, East Africa and beyond left to explore, and we hope to see you off on a luxury holiday again soon.
